JAKARTA. The Indonesian Tin Exporters Association (AETI) suspects there is a domestic tin export leak of 1,000 tons to 1,500 tons per year.
Jabin Sufianto, Chairman of AETI, admitted that his company does not yet have accurate data on the dark track of tin exports in Indonesia. However, the suspicion is sourced from domestic export data that has not been in accordance with other country's import data.
For example, Malaysia said that they are still receiving tin sand supply from Indonesia. In 2015, China also released tin sand import data from Indonesia of 19.5 tons. Yet since 2007, exports of tin sands have been banned.
Therefore, Jabin suggested the government to revise the regulation of mineral exports. "Unfortunately only regulated through ICDX. But not check whether the delivery is in accordance with the export value listed, "he explained.
Jabin also recommended the government to regulate the trade of tin derived products, not just the type of tin sand.
According to Jabin, Law No. 4 of 2009 on Mineral and Coal Mining needs to be adjusted to the current conditions. Such as the prohibition of the use of heavy equipment in mining. And the maximum mine restriction of 25 meters.
"Now the reserve is deeper than 25 meters. If the ban using heavy equipment, can be dangerous and want to when to the location of mineral deposits, "he explained. Some of the tin reserves are now also not located in the river basin anymore.
