Jakarta -In Indonesia precisely in Bangka Belitung (Babel) there are thousands of illegal or illegal tin mining. This condition has long been happening, even Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) noted, the state losses caused by illegal tin mining in the period of 2004-2013 reached Rp 50 trillion.
It is expected that the implementation of Permendag Number 33 of 2015 regarding the provision of tin exports could suppress the existence of illegal tin mining. Coordinator of the Indonesian Corruption Watch Monitoring and Analysis Division (ICW) Firdaus Ilyas said the Permendag, effective from 1 August 2015, could increase government revenue, especially from export royalties. As it is known, illegal tin exports are not recorded, so the government automatically does not get royalties from those activities.
"With the government's record must be consistent run Permendag tersebu t," said Firdaus in the information received, Tuesday (08/11/2015).
From ICW's note, due to the illegal export of tin, the country suffered losses in the period of 2004-2013 amounting to Rp 50 trillion.
"Not to mention the state also lost taxes and royalties around Rp 4 trillion.
Firdaus said, Permendag is also curb the illegal miners or known as illegal mines that damage the environment. So far, the natural damage caused by illegal tin mining is considered very disturbing. The damaged natural area is not proportional to the results the country gets from the tin sector.
Firdaus added that the government must be completely consistent and oversee the implementation of this regulation. Because the elements of the miners are usually good at utilizing the loopholes of the rules. One of the points in the Permendag is that the smelter must have a Clean and Clear (CnC) certificate issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, which can also be taken by the person's gap.
"Although in Permendag CnC it can increase taxes and royalties. But we also see that CnC is only an administrative requirement. There are still many gaps that can be utilized, such as supervision, permit, and others, "he said.
He also urged the government to avoid selective logging in implementing this regulation, including for people's mines that rampantly engage in illegal mining practices.
"They should not be kept illegal, should be managed properly," he said.
Director of Timah, Sukrisno also said, PT Timah as the largest tin smelter company in Indonesia claimed to suffer a loss of Rp 20 trillion from 2009-2014. PT Timah lost 125,000 tons of illegal mined mining deposits by illegal miners.
"We do not enjoy. Our loss. From 2009 to the end of 2014, about 125 thousand tons lost their PT Timah deposit. The equivalent of Rp 20 trillion. That's Indonesia's natural wealth, indirectly it belongs to Indonesia, "said Sukrisno.
